9:1 Whether I am not free? Am I not apostle? Whether I saw not Jesus Christ, our Lord? Whether ye be not my work in the Lord? Am I not an Apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our lord? Are not ye my work in the lord. Am I not an Apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are ye not my work in the Lord? Am I not an Apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not you my work in the Lord?
9:2 And though to others I am not apostle, but nevertheless to you I am; for why ye be the signal of mine apostlehood in the Lord. If I be not an Apostle unto other, yet am I unto you. For the seal of mine Apostleship are ye in the lord. If I be not an Apostle unto other, yet doubtless I am unto you: for ye are the seal of mine Apostleship in the Lord. If I be not an Apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine Apostleship are ye in the Lord.
9:3 My defence to them that ask me, is this. Mine answer to them that ask me, is this: My defence to them that examine me, is this, Mine answer to them that do examine me, is this:
9:4 Whether we have not power to eat and drink? Have we not power to eat and to drink? Have we not power to eat & to drink? Have we not power to eat and to drink?
9:5 Whether we have not power to lead about a woman, a sister, as also other apostles, and brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? other have we not power to lead about a sister to wife as well as other Apostles, and as the brethren of the lord, and Cephas? Or have we not power to lead about a wife being a sister, as well as the rest of the Apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? Have we not power to lead about a sister a wife as well as other Apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
9:6 Or I alone and Barnabas have not power to work these things? Other only I and Barnabas have not power this to do? Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power not to work? Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
9:7 Who fighteth any time with his own soldiers? Who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruits? Who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? who goeth a warfare any time at his own cost? who planteth a vineyard and eateth not of the fruit? or who feedeth a flock and eateth not of the milk? Who goeth a warfare any time at his own cost? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
9:8 Whether after man I say these things? whether also the law saith not these things? Say I these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law the same also? Say I these things according to man? saith not the Law the same also? Say I these things as a man? or saith not the Law the same also?
9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not bind up the mouth of the ox that thresheth. Whether of oxen is charge to God? For it is written in the law of Moses: Thou shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. doth god take thought for oxen? For it is written in the Law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn: doth God take care for oxen? For it is written in the Law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn: doth God take care for oxen?
9:10 Whether for us he saith these things? For why for us they be written; for he that ploweth, oweth to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, in hope to take fruits. other saith he it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubt this is written: that he which eareth should ear in hope: and that he which thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope. Either saith he it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubt it is written, that he which eareth, should ear in hope: and that he that thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope. Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? for our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth, should plow in hope: and that he that thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope.
9:11 If we sow spiritual things to you, is it great, if we reap your fleshly things? If we sow unto you spiritual things: is it a great thing if we reap your carnal things? If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your carnal things? If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
9:12 If others be partners of your power, why not rather we? But we use not this power, but we suffer all things, that we give no letting to the evangel of Christ. if other be partakers of this power over you? wherefore are not we rather. Nevertheless we have not used this power: but suffer all things lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. If others with you be partakers of this power, are not we rather? nevertheless, we have not used this power: but suffer all things, that we should not hinder the Gospel of Christ. If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power: but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the Gospel of Christ.
9:13 Know ye not, that they that work in the sanctuary, eat those things that be of the sanctuary, and they that serve to the altar, be partners of the altar? Do ye not understand how that they which minister in the temple: have their finding of the temple? And they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Do ye not know, that they which minister about the holy things, eat of the things of the Temple? and they which wait at the altar, are partakers with the altar? Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things, live of the things of the Temple? and they which wait at the altar, are partakers with the altar?
9:14 and the Lord ordained to them that tell the gospel, to live of the gospel. Even so also did the lord ordain, that they which preach the gospel, should live of the gospel: So also hath the Lord ordained, that they which preach the Gospel, should live of the Gospel. Even so hath the Lord ordained, that they which preach the Gospel, should live of the Gospel.
9:15 But I used none of these things; and I wrote not these things, that they be done so in me; for it is good rather for me to die, than that any man void my glory. But I have used none of these things. Neither wrote I these things that it should be so done unto me. It were better for me to die than that any man should take this rejoicing from me. But I have used none of these things: neither wrote I these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my rejoicing vain. But I have used none of these things. Neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
9:16 For if I preach the gospel, glory is not to me, forsooth need lieth before me; for woe to me, if I preach not the gospel. In that I preach the gospel I have nothing to rejoice of. For necessity is put unto me. woe is it unto me if I preach not the gospel. For though I preach the Gospel, I have nothing to rejoice of: for necessity is laid upon me, and woe is unto me, if I preach not the Gospel. For though I preach the Gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me, yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the Gospel.
9:17 Forsooth if I willing do this thing, I have meed; soothly if against my will, dispensation is betaken to me. if I do it with a good will, I have my reward. if I do it against my will, an office is committed unto me. For if I do it willingly, I have a reward: but if I do it against my will, notwithstanding the dispensation is committed unto me. For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the Gospel is committed unto me.
9:18 What therefore is my hire? That I preach the gospel, put the gospel without expense, that I mis-use not my power in the gospel. what is my reward then? Verily that when I preach the gospel, I make the gospel of Christ free, that I misuse not mine authority in the gospel. What is my reward then? verily that when I preach the Gospel, I make the Gospel of Christ free that I abuse not mine authority in the Gospel. What is my reward then? verily that when I preach the Gospel, I may make the Gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the Gospel.
9:19 For why when I was free of all men, I made me servant of all men, that I should win more men. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all men, that I might win the more. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all men, that I might win the more. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
9:20 And to Jews I am made as a Jew, that I should win Jews; to them that be under the law, as I were under the law, when I was not under the law, that I should win them that were under the law; And unto the jews, I became as a jew, to win the jews. To them that were under the law, was I made as though I had been under the law, to win them that were under the law. And unto the Jews I become as a Jew, that I may win the Jews: to them that are under the Law, as though I were under the Law, that I may win them that are under the Law: And unto the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews: to them that are under the Law, as under the Law, that I might gain them that are under the Law:
9:21 to them that were without law, as I were without law, when I was not without the law of God, but I was in the law of Christ, that I should win them that were without law. To them that were without law, became I as though I had been without law (when I was not without law as pertaining to god, but under a law as concerning Christ) to win them that were without law. To them that are without law, as though I were without law (when I am not without Law as pertaining to God, but am in the Law through Christ) that I may win them that are without Law. To them that are without Law, as without Law (being not without Law to God, but under the Law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without Law.
9:22 I am made sick to sick men, that I should win sick men; to all men I am made all things, that I should make all men safe. To the weak became I as weak, to win the weak. In all things I fashioned myself to all men, to save at the leastway some. To the weak I become as weak, that I may win the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
9:23 But I do all things for the gospel, that I should be made partner of it. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might have my part thereof. And this I do for the Gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. And this I do for the Gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
9:24 Know ye not, that they that run in a furlong, all run, but one taketh the prize? So run ye, that ye catch. Perceive ye not how that they which run in a course, run all, yet but one receiveth the reward. So run that ye may obtain. Know ye not, that they which run in a race, run all, yet one receiveth the price? so run, that ye may obtain. Know ye not that they which run in a race, run all, but one receiveth the price? So run, that ye may obtain.
9:25 Each man that striveth in fight, abstaineth him from all things; forsooth, that they take a corruptible crown, but we an uncorrupt. Every man that proveth masteries abstaineth from all things. and they do it to obtain a corruptible crown: but we to obtain an everlasting crown. And every man that proveth masteries, abstaineth from all things: and they do it to obtain a corruptible crown: but we for an uncorruptible. And every man that striveth for the mastery, is temperate in all things: Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
9:26 Therefore I run so, not as to an uncertain thing; thus I fight, not as beating the air; I therefore so run, not as at an uncertain thing. So fight I, not as one that beateth the air: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beateth the air. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
9:27 but I chastise my body, and bring it into servage; lest peradventure when I have preached to others, I myself be made reproveable. but I tame my body and bring him into subjection, lest after that I have preached to other, I myself should be a castaway. But I beat down my body, & bring it into subjection, lest by any means after that I have preached to other, I myself should be reproved. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
