2:1 Therefore I beseech first of all things, that beseechings, prayers, askings, doing of thankings, be made for all men, I exhort therefore that above all things prayers, supplications, petitions, and giving of thanks, be had for all men: I exhort therefore, that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions & giving of thanks be made for all men, I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men:
2:2 for kings and all that be set in highness, that we lead a quiet and a peaceable life, in all piety and chastity. for kings, and for all that are in preeminence, that we may live a quiet and a peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty. For Kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty. For Kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
2:3 For this thing is good and accepted before God, our Saviour, For that is good and accepted in the sight of god our saviour, For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,
2:4 that will all men to be made safe, and to come to the knowing of truth. which would have all men saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth. Who will that all men shall be saved, & come unto the knowledge of the truth. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
2:5 For one God and one mediator is of God and of men, a man Christ Jesus, For there is one god, and one mediator between god and man, which is the man Christ Jesus, For there is one God, and one Mediator between God & man, which is the man Christ Jesus, For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
2:6 that gave himself redemption for all men. Whose witnessing is confirmed in his times; which gave himself a ransom for all men, that it should be preached at his time, Who gave himself a ransom for all men, to be a testimony in due time, Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
2:7 in which I am set a preacher and an apostle. Soothly I say truth in Christ Jesus, and I lie not, a teacher of heathen men in faith and truth. whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle (I tell the truth in Christ and lie not) being the teacher of the gentiles in faith and verity. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher & an Apostle (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not) even a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an Apostle (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
2:8 Therefore I will, that men pray in all place, lifting up clean hands without wrath and disputing. I will therefore that the men pray every where, lifting up pure hands without wrath, or arguing. I will therefore that the men pray, every where lifting up pure hands without wrath, or doubting. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands without wrath, and doubting.
2:9 Also and women in adorned habit, with shamefastness and soberness adorning themselves, not in wreathed hairs, either in gold, or pearls, or precious cloth; Likewise also the women that they array themselves in mannerly apparel with shamefastness, and honest behaviour, not with broided hair, other gold, or pearls, or costly array: Likewise also the women, that they array themselves in comely apparel, with shamefastness & modesty, not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly apparel, In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety, not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array,
2:10 but that that becometh women, promising piety by good works. but with such as becometh women that profess the worshipping of God through good works. But (as becometh women that profess the fear of God) with good works. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
2:11 A woman learn she in silence, with all subjection. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection:
2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, neither for to have lordship on the man, but to be in silence. I suffer not a woman to teach, neither to have authority over a man: but for to be in silence. I permit not a woman to teach, neither to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
2:13 For Adam was first formed, afterward Eve; For Adam was first formed, and then Eve. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. For Adam was first formed, then Eve:
2:14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived, in prevarication. Also Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived, and was in transgression. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived, & was in the transgression. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression:
2:15 But she shall be saved by generation of children, if she dwell perfectly in faith, and love, and holiness, with soberness. Notwithstanding they shall be saved through bearing of children, if they continue in the faith and in love, and in sanctifying. Notwithstanding, through bearing of children she shall be saved if they continue in faith, and love, and holiness with modesty. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in child-bearing, if they continue in faith and charity, and holiness, with sobriety.
