1:1 Thou Theophilus, first I made a sermon of all the things, that Jesus began to do and teach, In my first treatise (Dear friend Theophilus) I have written of all that Jesus began to do and teach, I have made the former treatise, o Theophilus, of all that JESUS began to do, & teach, The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
1:2 till into the day, in which he commanding to the apostles by the Holy Ghost, whom he chose, was taken up; until the day in the which he was taken up, after that he through the holy ghost, had given commandments unto the Apostles, which he chose: Until the day, that he was taken up, after that he through the holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the Apostles, whom he had chosen: Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the holy Ghost had given commandments unto the Apostles, whom he had chosen.
1:3 to whom and he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many arguments, appearing to them forty days, and speaking of the realm of God. to whom also he shewed himself alive, after his passion by many tokens, appearing unto them forty days, and spake unto them of the kingdom of god, To whom also he presented himself alive after that he had suffered, by many infallible tokens, being seen of them by the space of forty days, & speaking of those things which appertain to the kingdom of God. To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
1:4 And he ate with them, and commanded to them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but abide the promise of the Father, which ye heard, he saith, by my mouth; and gathered them together, and commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem: but to wait for the promise of the father, whereof ye have heard of me. And when he had gathered them together, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which said he, ye have heard of me. And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Hierusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
1:5 for soothly John baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Ghost, not after these many days. For Jhon baptised with water but ye shall be baptised with the holy ghost, and that within this few days. For John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the holy Ghost within these few days. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the holy Ghost, not many days hence.
1:6 Therefore they that had come together, asked him, saying, Lord, if in this time shalt thou restore the kingdom of Israel? When they were come together, they asked of him, saying: Master wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to israhel? When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
1:7 And he said to them, It is not yours to know the times or moments, which the Father hath put in his power; He said unto them: It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the father hath put in his own power: And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power, And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
1:8 but ye shall take the virtue of the Holy Ghost coming from above into you, and ye shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost of the earth. but ye shall receive power of the holy ghost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all jewry, and in samary, and even unto the world’s end. But ye shall receive power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, & in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. But ye shall receive power after that the holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Hierusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
1:9 And when he had said these things, in their sight he was lifted up, and a cloud received him from their eyes. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld he was taken up, and a cloud received him up out of their sight. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up: for a cloud took him up out of their sight. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
1:10 And when they beheld into heaven him going, lo! two men stood nigh beside them in white clothes, And as they fastened their eyes in heaven, as he went, lo two men stood by them in white clothing, And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven, as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven, as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
1:11 which and said, Men of Galilee, what stand ye beholding into heaven? This Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall come so, as ye saw him going into heaven. which also said: ye men of galile, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, even as ye have seen him go into heaven. Which also said, Ye men of Galile, why stand ye gazing into heaven? This Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, as ye have seen him go into heaven. Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
1:12 Then they turned again to Jerusalem, from the hill that is called Olivet, the which is beside Jerusalem, having the journey of a sabbath. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from mount olivete, which is nigh to Jerusalem, containing a sabbath day’s journey. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount that is called the mount of olives, which is near to Jerusalem, containing a Sabbath day’s journey. Then returned they unto Hierusalem, from the mount called Olivet, which is from Hierusalem a Sabbath day’s journey.
1:13 And when they had entered into the supping place, they went up into the higher things, where they dwelt, Peter and John, and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas of James. And when they were come in, they went up into a parlor, where abode both Peter and James, Jhon and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartlemew and Mathew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas James’ son. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper chamber, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philippe, and Thomas, Bartlemew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon zelotes, and Judas James’ brother. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter & James, & John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
1:14 All these were dwelling together in prayer, with women, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. These all continued with one accord, in prayer, and supplication with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus. And with his brethren. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women, and Marie the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
1:15 In those days Peter rose up in the middle of the brethren, and said; and there was a company of men together, almost an hundred and twenty; And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said (The number of names were about an hundred and twenty) And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said (now the number of names that were in one place, were about an hundred and twenty) And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (The number of names together were about an hundred and twenty)
1:16 Men brethren it behooveth the scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost before-said by the mouth of David, of Judas that was leader of them that took Jesus; Ye men and brethren, this scripture must needs be fulfilled which the holy ghost through the mouth of David spake before of Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. Ye men & brethren, this Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before of Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. Men and brethren, This Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
1:17 which was numbered among us, and got the part of this ministry. For he was numbered with us and obtained fellowship in this ministration. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained fellowship in this ministration. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
1:18 And forsooth this wielded a field of the hire of wickedness, and he hanged, burst apart the middle, and all his entrails were shed abroad. And he hath now possessed a plot of ground with the reward of iniquity. And when he was hanged, burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. He therefore hath purchased a field with the reward of iniquity: and when he had thrown down himself head long he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity, and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
1:19 And it was made known to all men dwelling in Jerusalem, so that that field was called Aceldama in the tongue of them, that is, the field of blood. And it is known unto all the inhabiters of Jerusalem. Insomuch that that field is called in their mother tongue, Acheldema, that is to say the blood field. And it is known unto all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in so much, that that field is called in their own language, Aceldama, that is, The field of blood. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Hierusalem, insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
1:20 And it is written in the book of Psalms, The habitation of him be made desert, and be there none that dwell in it, and another take his bishopric. It is written in the book of psalms, His habitation be void, and no man dwelling therein: and his bishoprick let another take. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be void, and let no man dwell therein: also, Let another take his charge. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: And his Bishoprick let another take.
1:21 Therefore it behooveth of these men, that be gathered together with us in all time, in which the Lord Jesus entered in, and went out among us, Wherefore of these men which have companied with us (all the time that the lord Jesus went out and in among us, Wherefore, of these men which have companied with us, all the time that the Lord Jesus was conversant among us, Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
1:22 beginning from the baptism of John unto the day in which he was taken up from us, that one of these be made a witness of his resurrection with us. beginning at the baptism of Jhon unto that same day that he was taken up from us) must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. Beginning from the Baptism of John, unto the day that he was taken up from us, must one of them be made a witness with us of his resurrection. Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
1:23 And they ordained two, Joseph, that was called Barsabas, that was named Justus, and Matthias. And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas (whose surname was Justus) and Mathias. And they presented two, Joseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Justus, and Matthias. And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, that knowest the hearts of all men, shew whom thou hast chosen of these two, And they prayed saying: Thou lord which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether thou hast chosen of these two, And they prayed, saying, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, And they prayed, and said, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
1:25 one to take the place of this ministry and apostlehood, of which Judas trespassed, that he should go into his place. that the one may take the room of this ministration, and apostleship from the which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. That he may take the room of this ministration and Apostleship, from which Judas hath gone astray, to go to his own place. That he may take part of this ministry and Apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
1:26 And they gave lots to them, and the lot felled on Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. And they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell on Mathias. And he was counted with the eleven apostles. Then they gave forth their lots: and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was by a common consent counted with the Eleven Apostles. And they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.
