12:1 Forsooth in the same time, Herod the king sent hands, to torment some men of the church. In that time Herod the king laid hands on certain of the congregation, to vex them. Now about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the Church. Now about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hands, to vex certain of the Church.
12:2 And he slew by sword James, the brother of John. He killed James the brother of Jhon with a sword: And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
12:3 And he saw that it pleased to the Jews, and cast to take also Peter; and the days of therf loaves were. and because he saw that it pleased the jews, he proceeded further, to take Peter also. Then were the days of unleavened bread, And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further, to take Peter also (then were the days of unleavened bread) And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further, to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
12:4 And when he had caught Peter, he sent him into prison; and betook him to four quaternions of knights, to keep him, willing after pask to bring him forth to the people. and when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after easter to bring him forth to the people. And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people. And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him, intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
12:5 And Peter was kept in prison; but prayer was made of the church without ceasing to God for him. Then was Peter kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing of the congregation unto god for him. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer was made of the Church unto God for him. Peter therefore was kept in prison, but prayer was made without ceasing of the Church unto God for him.
12:6 But when Herod should bring him forth, in that night, Peter was sleeping between two knights, bound with two chains; and the keepers before the door kept the prison. When herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains, And the keepers before the door kept the prison. And when Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two Soldiers, bound with two chains, and the Keepers before the door kept the prison.
12:7 And lo! an angel of the Lord stood nigh, and light shone in the prison house. And the side of Peter smitten, he raised him, saying, Rise swiftly. And anon the chains felled down from his hands. And behold the angel of the lord was there present, and a light shined in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the side, and stirred him up saying: arise up quickly. And the chains fell off from his hands. And behold, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and a light shined in the house, and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And behold, the Angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
12:8 And the angel said to him, Gird thee, and do on thy hoses. And he did so. And he said to him, Do about to thee thy cloth, and follow me. and the angel said unto him: gird thyself and bind on thy sandals, And so he did. And he said unto him: cast on thy mantle about thee, and follow me. And the Angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. Then he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And the Angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals: And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and he wist not that it was sooth, that was done by the angel; for he guessed himself to have seen a vision. And he came out and followed him, and wist not, that it was truth which was done by the angel, but thought he had seen a vision. So Peter came out and followed him, & knew not that it was true, which was done by the Angel, but thought he had seen a vision. And he went out, and followed him, and wist not that it was true which was done by the Angel: but thought he saw a vision.
12:10 And they passed the first and the second ward, and came to the iron gate that leadeth to the city, the which wilfully is opened to them. And they went out, and came forth into one street, and anon the angel passed away from him. When they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by his own accord. And they went out and passed through one street, and by and by the angel departed from him. Now when they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by it own accord, and they went out, and passed through one street, and by and by the Angel departed from him. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out and passed on through one street, and forthwith the Angel departed from him.
12:11 And Peter turning again to himself, said, Now I know verily, that the Lord sent his angel, and delivered me from the hand of Herod, and from all the abiding of the people of Jews. And when Peter was come to himself, he said: now I know of a surety, that the lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me from the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the jews. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know for a truth, that the Lord hath sent his Angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the Jews. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his Angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12:12 And he beholding, came to the house of Mary, the mother of John, that is named Mark, where many were gathered together, and praying. And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of one Jhon, which was called mark also, where many were gathered together in prayer. And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Marie, the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and prayed. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.
12:13 And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel, Rhoda by name, came forth to see. As Peter knocked at the entry door, a damsel came forth to hearken, named Rhoda. And when Peter knocked at the entry door, a maid came forth to hearken, named Rhode. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
12:14 And when she knew the voice of Peter, for joy she opened not the gate, but ran in, and told, that Peter stood before the gate. And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the entry for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood before the entry. But when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the entry door for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the entry. And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
12:15 And they said to her, Thou maddest. But she affirmed, that it was so. And they said, It is his angel. And they said unto her: thou art mad. And she bare them down that it was even so. Then said they: it is his angel. But they said unto her, Thou art mad. Yet she affirmed it constantly, that it was so. Then said they, It is his Angel. And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his Angel.
12:16 Forsooth Peter lasted knocking. And when they had opened the door, they saw him, and wondered. Peter continued knocking. When they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonied. But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened it, and saw him, they were astonied. But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
12:17 Soothly he beckoning to them with hand to be still, told them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, Tell ye to James and to the brethren these things. And he went out, and went into another place. He beckoned unto them with his hand to hold their peace, and told them by what means the lord had brought him out of prison. And said: go shew this unto James and to the brethren. And he departed and went into another place. And he beckoned unto them with the hand, to hold their peace, and told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James and to the brethren: and he departed and went into another place. But he beckoning unto them with the hand, to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison: And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
12:18 And when the day was come, there was not little troubling among the knights, what was done of Peter. As soon as it was day there was no little ado among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. Now as soon as it was day, there was no small trouble among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
12:19 And when Herod had sought him, and found not, after that he had made enquiring of the keepers, he commanded them to be brought to him. And he came down from Judaea into Caesarea, and dwelled there. When Herod had called for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded to depart. And he descended from Jewry to Cesarea, and there abode. And when Herod had sought for him, & found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded them to be led to be punished. And he went down from Judea to Cesarea, and there abode. And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judea to Cesarea, & there abode.
12:20 And he was wroth to men of Tyre and of Sidon. And they of one accord came to him, when they had counseled with Blastus, that was the king’s chamberlain, they asked peace, for that their countries were nourished by him. Herod was displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon. And they came all at once, and made intercession unto blastus the king’s chamberlain, and desired peace, because their country was nourished by the king’s land. Then Herod intended to make war against them of Tyrus and Sidon, but they came all with one accord unto him, and persuaded Blastus the King’s chamberlain, and they desired peace, because their country was nourished by the King’s land. And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace, because their country was nourished by the king’s country.
12:21 Forsooth a day ordained, Herod clothed with king’s clothing, sat for doomsman, and spake to them. Upon a day appointed, the king arrayed him in royal apparel, and set him in his seat, and made an oration unto them. And upon a day appointed, Herod arrayed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the judgement seat, and made an oration unto them. And upon a set day Herod arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an Oration unto them.
12:22 And the people cried, The voice of God, and not of man. And the people gave a shout, saying: It is the voice of a god and not of a man. And the people gave a shout, saying, The voice of God, and not of man. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a God, and not of a man.
12:23 Soothly anon an angel of the Lord smote him, for he had not given honour to God; and he was wasted of worms, and died. And immediately the angel of the lord smote him, because he gave not God the honour, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. But immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not glory unto God, so that he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. And immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
12:24 And the word of the Lord waxed, and was multiplied. The word of God grew and multiplied. And the word of God grew, and multiplied. But the word of God grew, and multiplied.
12:25 Forsooth Barnabas and Saul turned again from Jerusalem, the ministry fulfilled, and took John, that was named Mark. And Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem, and fulfilled their office, and took with them Jhon, which was also called Marcus. So Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their office, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark. And Barnabas and Saul returned from Hierusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
