Ver.
Wycliffe (1382/95)
Tyndale (1526)
Geneva (1560)
King James (1611)
10:1 Truly, truly, I say to you, he that cometh not in by the door into the fold of sheep, but ascendeth up by another way, is a night thief and a day thief. Verily verily I say unto you: Whosoever entereth not in by the door, into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way: he is a thief and a robber. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that entereth not in by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up another way, he is a thief and a robber. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief, and a robber.
10:2 But he that entereth by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. He that goeth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. But he that goeth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. But he that entereth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3 To this the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. To this man the porter openeth the door, and the sheep hear his voice, And he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out, To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4 And when he hath sent out his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him; for they know his voice. and when he hath sent forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him. For they know his voice. And when he hath sent forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5 But they follow not an alien, but flee from him; for they have not known the voice of aliens. A stranger they will not follow, but will fly from him. For they know not the voice of strangers. And they will not follow a stranger, but they flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him, for they know not the voice of strangers.
10:6 Jesus said to them this proverb; but they knew not what he spake to them. This manner of saying spake Jesus unto them. And they understood not, what things they were, which he spake unto them. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
10:7 Therefore Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. Then said Jesus unto them again: Verily verily I say unto you: that I am the door of the sheep. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
10:8 All how many ever came before me, be night thieves and day thieves, but the sheep heard not them. All even as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. All, that ever came before me, are thieves & robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. All that ever came before me, are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9 I am the door. If any man shall enter by me, he shall be saved; and he shall go in, and shall go out, and he shall find pastures. I am the door. by me, if any man enter in, he shall be safe, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and find pasture. I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10:10 A night thief cometh not, but that he steal, and slay, and lose; I came, that they have life, and have more plenteously. The thief cometh not but for to steal and kill, and destroy. I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and have it in abundance. The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10:11 I am a good shepherd; a good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. I am a good shepherd, a good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
10:12 But an hired hind, and that is not the shepherd, whose the sheep be not his own, seeth a wolf coming, and he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth; and the wolf snatcheth, and scattereth the sheep. An hired servant which is not the shepherd, neither the sheep are his own, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth, and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep. But an hireling, and he which is not the shepherd, neither the sheep are his own, seeth the wolf coming, & he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. But he that is an hireling and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
10:13 And the hired hind fleeth, for he is an hired hind, and it pertaineth not to him of the sheep. The hired servant flieth because he is an hired servant, and careth not for the sheep. So the hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, & careth not for the sheep.
10:14 I am a good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me. I am that good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. I am the good shepherd, and know mine, and am known of mine. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
10:15 As the Father hath known me, I know the Father; and I put my life for my sheep. As my father knoweth me: even so know I my father. And I give myself for my sheep, As the Father knoweth me, so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep. As the father knoweth me, even so know I the father: & I lay down my life for the sheep.
10:16 And I have other sheep, that be not of this fold, and it behooveth me to bring them together, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be made one fold and one shepherd. and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold. Them also must I bring, and they shall hear my voice. And there shall be one flock, and one shepherd. Other sheep I have also, which are not of this fold: them also must I bring, and they shall hear my voice: and there shall be one sheepfold, & one shepherd. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
10:17 Therefore the Father loveth me, for I put my life, that again I take it. Therefore doth my father love me, because I put my life from me, that I might take it again. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. Therefore doth my father love me, because I lay down my life that I might take it again.
10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I put it of myself. I have power to put it, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have taken of my Father. No man taketh it from me: but I put it away of myself. I have power to put it from me, and power I have to take it again. This commandment have I received of my father. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and have power to take it again: this commandment have I received of my Father. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my father.
10:19 Again dissension was made among the Jews for these words. Again there was dissension among the jews for these sayings, Then there was a dissension again among the Jews for these sayings. There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and maddeth; what hear ye him? and many of them said: He hath the devil, and is mad: why hear ye him? And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad: why hear ye him? And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad, why hear ye him?
10:21 Other men said, These words be not of a man that hath a devil. Whether a devil may open the eyes of blind men? other said these are not the words of him that hath the devil: Can the devil open the eyes of the blind? Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil: can the devil open the eyes of the blind? Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
10:22 But the feasts of hallowing of the temple were made in Jerusalem, and it was winter. It was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was the winter: And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the Dedication, and it was winter. And it was at Hierusalem the feast of the dedication, & it was winter.
10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in the porch of Solomon. And Jesus walked in Solomon’s hall. And Jesus walked in the Temple, in Solomon’s porch. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
10:24 Therefore the Jews came about him, and said to him, How long dost thou away our soul? if thou art Christ, say to us plainly. Then came the jews round about him, and said unto him: How long dost thou make us doubt? If thou be Christ, tell us plainly. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
10:25 Jesus answered to them, I speak to you, and ye believe not; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these bear witness of me. Jesus answered them: I told you and ye believe not: The works that I do in my father’s name, bear witness of me: Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s Name, they bear witness of me. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
10:26 But ye believe not, for ye be not of my sheep. but ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. As I said unto you: But ye believe not: for ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. my sheep, hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
10:28 And I shall give to them everlasting life, and they shall not perish into without end, and any man shall not snatch them out of mine hand. and I give unto them eternal life. and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of mine hand. And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
10:29 That thing that my Father gave to me, is more than all; and no man may snatch from my Father’s hand. My father which gave them me, is greater than all men, and no man is able to take them out of my father’s hand, My Father which gave them me, is greater than all, and none is able to take them out of my Father’s hand. My father which gave them me, is greater than all: and no man is able to pluck them out of my father’s hand.
10:30 I and the Father be one. and I and my father are one. I and my Father are one. I and my father are one.
10:31 The Jews took up stones, to stone him. Then the jews again took up stones, to stone him withal. Then the Jews again took up stones, to stone him. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10:32 Jesus answered to them, I have shewed to you many good works of my Father, for which work of them stone ye me? Jesus answered them: many good works have I shewed you from my father: for which of them will ye stone me? Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father: for which of these works do ye stone me? Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father: for which of those works do ye stone me?
10:33 The Jews answered to him, We stone thee not of good work, but of blasphemy, and for thou, since thou art a man, makest thyself God. The jews answered him saying: For thy good works’ sake we stone thee not: but for thy blasphemy. and because that thou being a man, makest thyself God. The Jews answered him, saying, For the good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and that thou being a man, makest thyself God. The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
10:34 Jesus answered to them, Whether it is not written in your law, That I said, Ye be gods? Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your law: I have said, ye are gods? Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your Law, I said, ye are gods? Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?
10:35 If he said that they were gods, to whom the word of God was made, and the scripture may not be undone, If he called them gods unto whom the word of God was spoken (and the scripture cannot be broken) If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God was given, and the Scripture cannot be broken, If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the Scripture cannot be broken:
10:36 which the Father hallowed, and sent into the world, ye say, That thou blasphemest, for I said, I am God’s Son? say ye then to him, whom the father hath sanctified, and sent into the world: Thou blasphemest, because I said I am the son of god? Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God? Say ye of him, whom the father hath sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, do not ye believe to me; If I do not the works of my father, believe me not. If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
10:38 but if I do, though ye will not believe to me, believe ye to the works; that ye know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. But though ye believe not me, yet believe the works, that ye may know and believe that the father is in me, and I in him. But if I do, then though ye believe not me, yet believe the works, that ye may know & believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39 Therefore they sought to take him, and he went out of their hands. Again they went about to take him, but he escaped out of their hands, Again they went about to take him. but he escaped out of their hands, Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
10:40 And he went again over Jordan, into that place where John was first baptizing, and he dwelt there. and went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where Jhon before had baptised, and there abode. And went again beyond Jordan, into the place where John first baptized, and there abode. And went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where John at first baptized: and there he abode.
10:41 And many came to him, and said, Forsooth John did no sign; and all things whatever John said of this, were sooth. and many resorted unto him, and said: Jhon did no miracle. But all things that Jhon spake of this man are true. And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man, were true. And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man, were true.
10:42 And many believed in him. And there many believed on him. And many believed in him there. And many believed on him there.
