4:1 Then Jesus was led of a Spirit into desert, to be tempted of the devil. Then was Jesus led away of the spirit in to a desert, to be tempted of the devil. Then was Jesus led aside of the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted of the devil. Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted of the devil.
4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward he hungered. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, at the last he was an hungred. And when he had fasted forty days, and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
4:3 And the tempter came nigh, and said to him, If thou art the Son of God, say that these stones be made loaves. Then came until him the tempter, and said: if thou be the son of god, command that these stones be made bread. Then came to him the tempter, and said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4:4 Which answering said to him, It is written, A man liveth not in bread alone, but in every word that cometh forth from the mouth of God. He answered and said: it is written, man shall not live only by bread, But by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of god. But he answering, said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. But he answered, and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
4:5 Then the devil took him into the holy city, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, Then the devil took him up into the holy City, & set him on a pinnacle of the temple, Then the devil taketh him up into the holy City, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the Temple,
4:6 and said to him, If thou art the Son of God, send thee down; for it is written, That to his angels he commanded of thee, and they shall take thee in the hands, lest peradventure thou hurt thy foot at a stone. and said unto him: if thou be the son of god, cast thyself down. For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, and with their hands they shall stay thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone. And said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, that he will give his Angels charge over thee, and with their hands they shall lift thee up, lest at any time you shouldest dash thy foot against a stone. And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: For it is written, He shall give his Angels charge concerning thee, & in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
4:7 Again Jesus said to him, It is written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Jesus said to him, it is written also: thou shalt not tempt thy lord god. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
4:8 Again the devil took him up into a full high hill, and shewed to him all the realms of the world, and the glory of them; The devil took him up again and led him into an exceeding high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the beauty of them, Again the devil took him up unto an exceeding high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, Again the Devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them:
4:9 and said to him, All these I shall give to thee, if thou fall down and worship me. and said unto him: all these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. And said to him, All these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down, and worship me. And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
4:10 Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and to him alone thou shalt serve. Then said Jesus unto him. Avoid Satan. For it is written, Thou shalt worship thy Lord God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then said Jesus unto him, Avoid Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
4:11 Then the devil left him; and lo! angels came nigh, and served to him. Then the Devil left him, and lo, the angels came and ministered unto him. Then the devil left him: and behold, the Angels came, and ministered unto him. Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, Angels came and ministered unto him.
