Blessed are they which suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11 Blessed be ye, when men shall curse you, and pursue you, and shall say all evil against you lying, for me. Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall falsely say all manner of evil sayings against you for my sake. Blessed are ye when men revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you for my sake, falsely. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.
5:12 Joy ye, and be ye glad full out, for your meed is plenteous in heavens; for so they have pursued the prophets also that were before you. Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For so persecuted they the prophets which were before your days. Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the Prophets which were before you. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: For so persecuted they the Prophets which were before you.
5:13 Ye be salt of the earth; that if the salt shall vanish away, wherein shall it be salted? To nothing it is worth over, but that it be cast out, and be defouled of men. Ye are the salt of the earth. but and if the salt be once unsavoury, what can be salted therewith? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out at the doors, and that men tread it under feet. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, & to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the salt of the earth: But if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
5:14 Ye be the light of the world; a city set on an hill may not be hid; Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill, cannot be hid. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill, cannot be hid.
5:15 neither men tend a lantern, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that it give light to all that be in the house. neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it lighteth all them which are in the house. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, & it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel: but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
5:16 So shine your light before men, that they see your good works, and glorify your Father that is in heavens. See that your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, & glorify your Father which is in heaven. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven.
5:17 Do not ye guess that I came to undo the law, or the prophets; I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. Ye shall not think that I am come to disannul the law, or the prophets. no I am not come to disannul them, but to fulfill them. Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy them, but to fulfil them. Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
5:18 Forsooth I say to you, till heaven and earth pass, one i, or one tittle shall not pass from the law, till all things be done. For truly I say unto you, till heaven and earth perish, one jot, or one tittle of the law shall not scape, till all be fulfilled. For truly I say unto you, Till heaven, and earth perish, one jot, or one tittle of the Law shall not scape, till all things be fulfilled. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle, shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
5:19 Therefore he that breaketh one of these least commandments, and teacheth thus men, shall be called the least in the realm of heavens; but he that doeth, and teacheth, shall be called great in the kingdom of heavens. Whosoever breaketh one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whosoever shall observe and teach them, that person shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, & teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall observe and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do, and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
5:20 Forsooth I say to you, that but your rightwiseness shall be more plenteous than of scribes and Pharises, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heavens. For I say unto you, except your rightwiseness exceed, the rightwiseness of the scribes and pharises, ye cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, except your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the Scribes & Pharises, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
5:21 Ye have heard that it was said to old men, Thou shalt not slay; and he that slayeth, shall be guilty of doom. Ye have heard how it was said unto them of the old time. Thou shalt not kill. Whosoever shall kill, shall be in danger of judgement. Ye have heard that it was said unto them of the old time, Thou shalt not kill: for whosoever killeth, shall be culpable of judgement. Ye have heard, that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill: and, Whosoever shall kill, shall be in danger of the judgement.
5:22 But I say to you, that ever-each that is wroth to his brother, shall be guilty of doom; forsooth he that shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be guilty of council; soothly he that shall say, Fool, shall be guilty of the fire of hell. But I say unto you, whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of judgement. Whosoever shall say unto his brother racha, shall be in danger of a council. But whosoever say unto his brother thou fool, shall be in danger of hellfire. But I say unto you, whosoever is angry with his brother unadvisedly, shall be culpable of judgement. And whosoever saith unto his brother, Raca, shall be worthy to be punished by the Council. And whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be worthy to be punished with hell fire. But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause, shall be in danger of the Judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Racha, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
5:23 Therefore if thou offerest thy gift at the altar, and there bethinkest, that thy brother hath something against thee, Therefore when thou offerest thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath any thing against thee: If then thou bring thy gift to the altar, & there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee, Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee:
5:24 leave there thy gift before the altar, and go first to be reconciled to thy brother, and then thou shalt come, and shalt offer thy gift. leave there thine offering before the altar, and go thy way first and reconcile thyself to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Leave there thine offering before the altar, and go thy way: first be reconciled to thy brother, & then come & offer thy gift. Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
5:25 Be thou consenting to thine adversary soon, while thou art in the way with him, lest peradventure thine adversary take thee to the judge, and the judge take thee to the minister, and thou be sent into prison. Agree with thine adversary at once, whiles thou art in the way with him, lest thine adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the minister, and then thou be cast into prison. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him, lest thine adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the sergeant, and thou be cast into prison. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him: lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
5:26 Truly I say to thee, Thou shalt not go thence, till thou yield the last farthing. I say unto thee verily: thou shalt not come out thence till thou have paid the utmost farthing. Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt not come out thence, till thou hast paid the utmost farthing. Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
5:27 Ye have heard that it was said to old men, Thou shalt not do lechery. Ye have heard how it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not commit advoutry. Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
5:28 But I say to you, that every man that seeth a woman for to covet her, now he hath done lechery with her in his heart. But I say unto you, that whosoever eyeth a wife, lusting after her, hath committed advoutry with her already in his heart. But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
5:29 That if thy right eye offend thee, pull it out, and cast from thee; for it speedeth to thee, that one of thy members perish, than that all thy body go into hell. Wherefore if thy right eye offend thee, pluck him out and cast him from thee. Better it is for thee that one of thy members perish than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Wherefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for better it is for thee, that one of thy members perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. For it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it away, and cast it from thee; for it speedeth to thee that one of thy members perish, than that all thy body go into hell. Also if thy right hand offend thee, cut him off and cast him from thee. Better it is that one of thy members perish, than that all thy body should, be cast into hell. Also if thy right hand make thee to offend, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for better it is for thee that one of thy members perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee. For it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
5:31 Forsooth it is said, Whoever shall leave his wife, give he to her a libel. It is said, whosoever put away his wife, let him give her a testimonial of her divorcement. It hath been said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a testimonial of divorcement. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement.
5:32 But I say to you, that every man that shall leave his wife, except (for) the cause of fornication, maketh her to do lechery, and he that weddeth the forsaken wife, doeth adultery. But I say unto you: whosoever put away his wife (except it be for fornication) causeth her to break matrimony. And whosoever marrieth her that is divorced, breaketh wedlock. But I say unto you, whosoever shall put away his wife (except it be for fornication) causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced, committeth adultery. But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced, committeth adultery.
5:33 Again ye have heard, that it was said to old men, Thou shalt not forswear, but to the Lord thou shalt yield thine oaths. Again ye have heard how it was said to them of old time, thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform thine oath to God. Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform thine oaths to the Lord. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths.
5:34 Forsooth I say to you, to not swear on all manner; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; But I say unto you swear not at all: neither by heaven for it is God’s seat: But I say unto you, Swear not at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God: But I say unto you, Swear not at all, neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne:
5:35 neither by the earth, for it is the stool of his feet; neither by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king; nor yet by the earth, for it is his footstool: Neither by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king: Nor yet by the earth: for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem: for it is the city of the great King. Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: neither by Hierusalem, for it is the city of the great king.
5:36 neither thou shalt swear by thine head, for thou mayest not make one hair white, or black; neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white, or black: Neither shalt thou swear by thine head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
5:37 but your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; and that that is more than these, is of evil. But your communication shall be, yea, yea: nay, nay. For whatsoever is more than that, cometh of evil. But let your communication be Yea, yea: Nay, nay. For whatsoever is more than these, cometh of evil. But let your communication be Yea, yea: Nay, nay: For whatsoever is more than these, cometh of evil.
5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. Ye have heard how it is said, an eye for an eye: a tooth for a tooth. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, & a tooth for a tooth. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.
5:39 But I say to you, to not against-stand evil; but if any shall smite thee on the right cheek, give to him also the tother; But I say to you, that ye withstand not wrong: But if a man give thee a blow on thy right cheek, turn to him the other. But I say unto you, Resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
5:40 and to him that will strive with thee in doom, and take away thy coat, leave thou to him and thine over-cloth; And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take thy coat from thee, Let him have thy cloke also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
5:41 and whoever constrain thee a thousand paces, go thou with him other two. And whosoever will compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. And whosoever will compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
5:42 Forsooth give to him that asketh of thee, and turn thou not away from him that will borrow of thee. Give to him that asketh. and from him that would borrow turn not away. Give to him that asketh, and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not away. Give to him that asketh thee: and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not thou away.
5:43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Ye have heard how it is said: thou shalt love thine neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Ye have heard, that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy:
5:44 But I say to you, love ye your enemies, do ye well to them that hate you, and pray ye for him pursuing, and falsely challenging you; But I say unto you, love your enemies. Bless them that curse you. Do good to them that hate you, Pray for them which do you wrong, and persecute you, But I say unto you, Love your enemies: bless them that curse you: do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which hurt you, and persecute you, But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you:
5:45 that ye be the sons of your Father that is in heavens, that maketh his sun to rise on good and on evil men, and raineth on just men and unjust. that ye may be the children of your heavenly father: for he maketh his sun to arise, on the evil, and on the good, and sendeth his rain on the just and on the unjust. That ye may be the children of your Father that is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to arise on the evil, and the good, and sendeth rain on the just, & unjust. That ye may be the children of your father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just, and on the unjust.
5:46 For if ye love them that love you, what meed shall ye have? whether the publicans do not this thing? For if ye shall love them, which love you: what reward shall ye have? Do not the publicans even so? For if ye love them, which love you, what reward shall you have? Do not the Publicans even the same? For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the Publicans the same?
5:47 And if ye greet your brethren only, what moreover shall ye do? whether and pagans do not this thing? And if ye be friendly to your brethren only: what singular thing do ye? Do not the publicans likewise? And if ye be friendly to your brethren only, what singular thing do ye? do not even the Publicans likewise? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the Publicans so?
5:48 Therefore be ye perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Ye shall therefore be perfect, even as your heavenly father is perfect. Ye shall therefore be perfect, as your Father which is in heaven, is perfect. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father, which is in heaven, is perfect.
