2:1 Forsooth speak thou the things that become wholesome teaching; But speak thou that which becometh wholesome learning: But speak thou the things which become wholesome doctrine, But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2:2 that old men be sober, chaste, prudent, whole in faith, in love, and patience; That the elder men be sober, honest, discrete, sound in the faith, in love and in patience. That the Elder men be sober, honest, discrete, sound in the faith, in love, & in patience: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
2:3 also old women in holy habit, not backbiters, not serving much to wine, well-teaching, that they teach prudence. And the elder women likewise that they be in such raiment, as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much drinking, but teachers of honest things, The Elder women likewise, that they be in such behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, but teachers of honest things, The aged women likewise that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things,
2:4 Admonish thou young women, that they love their husbands, that they love their children; that they nurture the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, That they may instruct the young women to be sober minded, that they love their husbands, that they love their children, That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
2:5 and that they be prudent, chaste, sober, having care of the house, benign, subject to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. to be of honest behaviour, chaste, housewifely, good, and obedient unto their own husbands, that the word of god be not evil spoken of. That they be discrete, chaste, keeping at home, good and subject unto their husbands, that the word of God be not evil spoken of. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
2:6 Also admonish young men, that they be sober. Young men likewise exhort that they be of honest manners. Exhort young men likewise, that they be sober minded. Young men likewise exhort, to be sober minded.
2:7 In all things give thyself ensample of good works, in teaching, in holiness, in firmness. Above all things shew thyself an ensample of good works in the doctrine, shew uncorruption, honesty, Above all things shew thyself an ensample of good works with uncorrupt doctrine, with gravity, integrity, In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
2:8 An whole word, and unreproveable; that he that is of the contrary side, be ashamed, having none evil thing to say of you. and the wholesome word which cannot be rebuked, that he which withstandeth may be ashamed, having nothing in you that he may dispraise. And with the wholesome word, which cannot be reproved, that he which withstandeth, may be ashamed, having nothing concerning you to speak evil of. Sound speech that cannot be condemned, that he that is of the contrary part, may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
2:9 Admonish thou servants to be subject to their lords; in all things pleasing, not again-saying, The servants exhort to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please in all things, not answering again, Let servants be subject to their masters, and please them in all things, not answering again, Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things, not answering again:
2:10 not defrauding, but in all things shewing good faith, that they adorn in all things the doctrine of God, our Saviour. neither be pickers, but that they shew all good faithfulness, that they may do worship to the doctrine of god our saviour in all things. Neither pickers, but that they shew all good faithfulness, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
2:11 For the grace of God, our Saviour, hath appeared to all men, For the grace of god, that bringeth health unto all men, hath appeared For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation unto all men, hath appeared, For the grace of God that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men,
2:12 teaching us, that we, forsaking unpiety, and worldly desires, live soberly, and justly, and piously, in this world, and teacheth us that we should deny ungodliness, and worldly lusts, and that we should live honestly, righteously, and godly in this present world, And teacheth us that we should deny ungodliness, and worldly lusts, & that we should live soberly and righteously, and godly in this present world, Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world,
2:13 abiding the blessed hope and the coming of the glory of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ; looking for that blessed hope, and glorious appearing of the mighty god, and of our saviour Jesus Christ: Looking for the blessed hope, and appearing of the glory of the mighty God, and of our Saviour Jesus Christ, Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ,
2:14 that gave himself for us, that he should again-buy us from all wickedness, and make clean to himself a people acceptable, and follower of good works. which gave himself for us, to redeem us from all unrightwiseness, and to purge us a peculiar people unto himself fervently given unto good works. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purge us to be a peculiar people unto himself, zealous of good works. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
2:15 Speak thou these things, and admonish, and argue, with all commandment; no man despise thee. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke, with all commanding. See that no man despise thee. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. See that no man despise thee. These things speak and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
